Mt. Sinai was founded to focus on salvation, education, and liberation for all people. Mt. Sinai believes in equal rights for all people; this ministry fights against sexism, classism, and racism. The Apostle Paul said “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female ; for we are all one in Christ Jesus (Galatians 3:28). Mt. Sinai was also established for people to be free to give God high praise without being judged by others in the congregation (Psalm 150). Mt. Sinai was birthed for people to operate in their gifts and to be free to be used by God through the Holy Ghost; to operate in the five-fold ministry (Ephesians 4:11vs).
OUR FIRST SERVICE…
God blessed Bishop with 28 people who were willing to step out on faith. The first service was held at the former
Miracle Temple Church of God in Christ on 303 Winston Street in Pendleton, South Carolina. God blessed us with a full
house at our first service. The atmosphere was full of worship and praise. The spirit of the Lord led seventy five people
to join in that powerful service. Bishop McCaskill’s first sermon in Mt. Sinai was “Be Persuaded in Your on Mind”. The
lost was saved and the presence of the Lord was so heavy in the first service. The church grew from 28 members to
thousands over the years. Mt. Sinai was a church on the move because the favor of the Lord was upon us.
OUR WORLD OUTREACH…
Mt. Sinai believes in evangelism. The church would go out every Saturday witnessing in the streets, the hood, and drug
infested area. Mt. Sinai would have tent services and block services in the summer. Bishop McCaskill would preach to
the whole person. He was concerned about the lost being saved and their basic needs being met. The ministry spent
over hundreds of thousands of dollars meeting the needs of those in church and those outside of the membership. Jesus
said “For I was hungry and you gave Me no food, I was a stranger and you did not take me in, naked and you did not
clothe Me, sick and in prison and you did not visit Me” (Matthew 25:43). Therefore, the ministry set up over 40
outreach ministries to meet the needs of the people. The church had its first radio ministry in 1993 on the Anderson
gospel station, and WPJM in Greenville. The radio ministry reached thousands of people every week, and many people
were drawn to the ministry. Mt. Sinai was the first African American Ministry to have a service on WGGS TV Station. It
reaches over a million people every Sunday. It is has one of the highest rating on Sunday at 7:00pm. Mt. Sinai has been
on the Inspirational Channel in 1998 and Word Network in 2001.
We value local evangelism and world missions in route to fulfilling the Great Commission. “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching hem to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Matthew 28:19-20) Missions have been a major part of the Mt. Sinai Ministry. Bishop McCaskill has traveled to Nigeria, Ghana, and other parts of Africa to develop and assist in establishing churches. We have an Elder in Nigeria, Gahanna that carries out the assignment of reaching souls and training people to do greater ministry in the bush. This ministry was established in 2005. The Ministry was called Mt. Sinai VI in Abuja Nigeria and Mt. Sinai VII in Accra, Ghana; one church in seven locations. Now we are one church in five locations.
OUR GROWTH…
The ministry began to grow with more gifted ministers; therefore, Bishop was led to start our first outreach church in
Spartanburg SC. The outreach ministry was birthed in 2001, and God gave us favor in that area ; and that area was called
Mt. Sinai II , then God led Bishop to start a church in Greenville in 2002, and God gave us favor to start a church in
Greenville SC ,and that was called Mt. Sinai III, then the lord gave us favor to start a church in Greenwood and that was
called Mt. IV, then the Lord led Bishop to start a church in Lavonia Georgia, and that was called Mt. Sinai V. Bishop would
preach five times a day, leaving from one area to another until the foundation was established . The pastors and the
community criticized for doing something that had never been done in South Carolina. The ministers thought Bishop was
setting up churches to steal members and to gain more money; Bishop was only trying to win the outcast for Christ. The
churches were always established in a rough area in the community. We were only trying to win the souls of those that
everyone forgot about. The people we won were those who would be looked down upon because they didn’t have “the
right clothes or car.” Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in here the poor and the maimed and
the lame and the blind (Luke 14:23).
OUR BELIEF IN EDUCATION…
Mt. Sinai was concerned about education; therefore, we had a summer Christian academy to prepare students for the
next year. Also, during the school year we had a afterschool program to help student with difficult subjects. The Mt.
Sinai Bible College was established in 2002 in Greenville South Carolina. The Bible College trains ministers and lay
members to be productive as a pastor, evangelist, prophet, teacher, and apostle. We value excellence in all things
working to glorify God through the gifts He bestows on all believers (Colossians 3:23). We value biblical expository
preaching for the sake of equipping the saints. The Bible College has been successful in equipping men and women to
serve Gods people.
OUR DISCIPLESHIP…
Mt. Sinai is known for training ministers for ministry. Mt. Sinai has mentored over seventy-five ministers since this
ministry started. God has blessed the ministry to birth ten pastors who have their own congregation. Mt. Sinai has been
has served as a training center for those who are called to ministry. We have been blessed to help so many gifted people
develop, and be productive in Mt. Sinai and other ministries.
OUR TESTIMONY…
God has blessed this ministry in the midst of many transition, it stands because the favor of the Lord is upon us, Jesus
said, “Upon this rock I build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it” (Matthew 16:18).
